June

Another month has flown by.
June was a wet month in the supposed sunny Okanagan but the garden loved it. Carl planted very early this year and we had beets, carrots, lettuce and peas ready to eat. The view from my studio is gorgeous.

I was asked to do a painting of Adams Lake by my friend Paul for his dad, Neil's birthday. They have been up to the cabin at Adams Lake for years, Carl and I have joined them a few times so I was very excited to work on this one. After a few sketches and lots of ideas I love how it turned out and I know the family is happy as well. Thank you Paul, Mara and Neil, hope you have a great time up there again this year!

Therapy Vineyards (http://therapyvineyards.com/) has been wonderful and I am so grateful for all their support with my art. Both originals from last month sold as did many prints so I wanted to replace some of the art. A few years ago my dad and I rode the KVR from Chute Lake to Penticton and it is such a beautiful view. So I created a painting inspired from it! Check it out below!

I also completed a new painting for M Gallery, which opened officially on July 14. I'll be creating an entire post on this fabulous gallery soon, in the meantime be sure to check out http://www.mgallerybook.com/ and look them up on Facebook. I love this gallery and you should too!

Kootenay Lake, 24" x 48" $500
On June 22, we packed up our little hatchback car and headed north to visit my newly engaged sister and her fiance on their farm just outside of Edmonton. I was able to fit all of our camping stuff, clothes, food and painting gear plus our 80 pound dog. If there was a realty show for packing I think I would win.
We camped two nights on the way there, once outside of Revelstoke and then just past Jasper National Park.

We had a great time on the farm and Joni loved it, riding horses, jumping on the trampoline, running around all over the place and having naps on the lawn. While there I created this little painting of their farm.

On the way back we camped in Jasper National Park with the Jones family and then we splurged and got a hotel in Golden...with a water slide. Well worth the extra dollars to see Joni's face going down that slide.

It was a great family vacation for those 10 days with lots of inspiration from the Rocky Mountains, glaciers, lakes and well, maybe some from the prairies.
